DIY Doggie Art | Showcase Your Doggie With Bright and Bold Colors

We’re about to venture into cheesy doggie love land, who’s ready to come along with us on this ride? It’s gonna be fun, we promise. But be warned, sappiness lies ahead.

Okay, so the other day we went a *tiny* bit overboard with ideas on how to incorporate your doggies’ paws in your home decor. #SorryNotSorry

Today we’re looking at projects we can do (or we can get our crafty friends to help us with) that are classic and classy and will adorn our walls with dose of dapper doggie-ness. I mean, that’s the goal, right? We love our doggies – they bring so much joy and love to our lives – we should absolutely give them a special place in our homes, with a loving tribute.

Taking notes on Pinterest, we came up with three DIY art projects to showcase your doggies AND that do no suck. Some of these are more detailed and perhaps difficult than others, but you can do it. Do it for your doggie.

Gold Leaf & Lovely
Whether you are able to get a silohuette of your doggie, or draw a basic outline a breed you love, you can make a statement piece of art with just canvas and gold leaf. You will need time and confidence that you can create the dog shape you want… this is where you may feel inclined to phone a friend. Or you can make a template by enlarging an image on a photocopier, cutting it out, and drawing around your template in pencil. Then, apply gold leaf adhesive per directions, then gold leaf. Head to the blog Lovely Indeed for more details and instructions. Whether gold leaf on white, or painted canvas, we know you can do this, and we know you’ll love the final look.

Pop-Art Pet Prints
Want a little more color in your home? These pop-art style prints are amazing and super simple to put together. Andy Warhol would be so… proud? We think? The good news is that you needn’t paint anything to make an amazing print like this – just colored cardstock, and a color copier… and some time to play with contrasts and brightness of your image. Get the full instructions over at the blog A Beautiful Mess. Dogs and colors you love? This is a win-win for your walls.

DIY Doggie Silhouette
A big impact, yet simple work of art is to hop aboard the silhouette wagon, and make an oversized print and painting of your pup. Admittedly, this project is a few steps depending on how big you want to go with the print. The idea is that you make a template of your dog from contact paper and cut it out. Stick the sticky contact paper cut-out doggie onto canvas, and paint over it. Use one, two, or many colors – get creative! It’s your doggie, and your house. Then gingerly, carefully, pull the contact-paper template off the canvas, leaving a white space for a striking, contrasting image of your doggie. Check out the step-by-step tutorial here, and get to work on your next work of art.

DIY Doggie Art: Put Their Paws Up On Your Walls

We’re about to venture into cheesy doggie love land, who’s ready to come along with us on this ride? It’s gonna be fun, we promise. But be warned, sappiness lies ahead.

There’s a quote that we see every now and then, and while it might have been written for humans, we’d be lying if we said it didn’t make us think of our doggies.

“What I love most about my home is who I share it with.”

Sure, humans are cool, but doggies are the best. We’re not saying you can have pictures of your favorite people on your walls, we’re just saying – don’t leave your doggie out of your artful expressions of love. If your doggie has a certain face that makes you happy – print it! Blow up that picture to huge levels! Turn it pink! We’re here for how much you love your dog, and how you decorate your house to show that love. We like it all. There’s lots of art you can make of your doggies with which to adorn your walls, but let’s talk about art YOUR DOGGIE can make for YOU.

That’s right your doggies are beautiful creatures, and can be highly creative if provided the proper circumstances. Here are a few of our favorite ways to make fun art for your home, using your dog as the artist-in-chief. (Thanks, Pinterest, for the inspiration!)

Pawfully (sorry!) Cute Canvases
Guys. Did you wake up one day and think: “I’m going to buy a big ol’ canvas – and some paint – and then I’m going to let my dog walk around in that paint, and then all over that canvas”? Because someone did and gave us this killer idea! It’s abstract, it’s original, and depending on the color palettes you use, and how sure-footed (or not) your doggie is, the end-result will be spectacular. One color is striking – think black paw prints on clean, white canvas. Or, use multiple colors but only one at a time, allowing each application of color to dry in-between painting sessions.

Framed (Foot)prints
If a dog walking around in paint isn’t your jam, take a more streamlined approach, and apply paint to only one paw, before pressing onto high-quality paper. This looks particularly nice when you’ve written or printed out their name above or below the print – like this or this. Choose any color in the rainbow, but black on white is a classic. You could even get human feet or hands involved, and showcase one of each side-by-side.

Paws as Flowers
Okay, bare with us. At first this seems a little beyond our capabilities, but if you have a flower and dog lover in your life, this crafty project could be perfect for you. And it’s totally A Thing! Check out all the inspiration on Pinterest. It’s not too hard, really – all you’re doing is turning paw prints into flowers by adding stems, leaves, grass, or other natural elements to your picture. Pick a floral color for your paw prints – yellow, pink, purple, orange – and paint one of your doggie’s paws. Then carefully press down onto high-quality paper. Make one flower, make five. Wipe the paint off of your doggie’s paw and apply a new shade – the world is your oyster! Get creative! Once your flower-paws have been applied, and your doggie’s paws are clean again, you can go back and paint in the stems or grass and leaves you wish.

YaDoggie Recipe 101: Turkey & Pea (Limited-Ingredient Recipe)

Wondering what’s in the recipe? We are always happy to chat about what *exactly* gets put into YaDoggie dog food. We put a lot of thought and research into each recipe, and love to list the nutritional benefits so dog lovers and owners like you know what you’re doggie is eating. Below, we’re digging into the details of our limited-ingredient Turkey recipe. Curious about our other offerings? Check out Lamb and Buffalo & Duck recipes, and our all-natural Jerky Treats as well!

Does your doggie require a carefully-crafted meal made from high-quality, but limited ingredients? Maybe you’re looking for a lower calorie alternative to our other foods? Well,  we have good news for you! YaDoggie’s Turkey & Pea dog food is grain-free, and features a streamlined list of ingredients for doggies with more sensitive systems. And at 340 calories per cup, it’s the lowest calorie dog food we make.

As you know, our dog food is made for dogs by dog owners. We love our doggies. We love feeding our doggies. And we want to give them the best food to fuel their bodies. YaDoggie Turkey & Pea recipe is grain-free, and packed with protein, vitamins, minerals to keep your doggie healthy and happy.

YaDoggie Turkey & Pea dog food is made up of the five following categories:

  1. Core Proteins
  2. Veggies & Carbs
  3. Additional Protein Sources
  4. Other Important Ingredients (such as healthy fats & natural flavorings)
  5. Vitamins & Minerals

1. Core Protein
We call it a core protein if it’s written right there on the bag, so turkey it is! Since we wanted to make a recipe for selective or sensitive doggies, we wanted to keep it simple. Tukey & Pea features both turkey meat and turkey meal as the first and second ingredients listed. This tells you that the main source of protein is coming straight from pure turkey, in its natural form, and meal form. What’s the difference?  The meal is essentially a concentrated (water and fat removed) version of the protein source. Most foods contain quite a lot of water, so when we take that out, you’re left with nutrients and rich flavor. As a result, turkey meal contains 300% more protein than fresh turkey meat.

Note: The Meal Is Real
You might have heard “meals” are unhealthy or bad for your dog – this can be true if you don’t know what meat they’re made from. With our food, you know that “turkey meal” is made from fresh turkey meat, without any “by-products”, “digests”, or unspecified meats – just high quality concentrated turkey. Our meal is the real deal. We promise.

2. Veggies & Carbs
No grains, just wholesome goodness. Keeping it simple here, too – we don’t want your doggies with a more selective palette or sensitive digestion to scoff or suffer at the flavor of our food. We only added peas, pea starch, and dried beet pulp to the recipe, keeping the flavor clean and sweet. Plus, peas and beets will help fill your doggie up on fiber, and keep their energy going thanks to clean carbohydrates. Plus, the natural sweetness derived beets will make for fantastic flavor.

3. Other Protein Sources
We know your dog might have digestive issues or allergies, but we want to ensure they get all the protein they need, so we include pea protein in this recipe. A vegetable based protein source loaded with high quality, palatable, and digestible proteins, pea protein also has a fair amount of important amino acids.

4. Other Important Ingredients
Every doggie’s favorite category: other important ingredients include healthy fats and delicious, natural flavors. Poultry fat, sunflower oil, and flaxseed provide beneficial nutrients and boost the flavor for your doggies. Herbs like rosemary extract and a little salt, too, will make this mix a hit for doggies at home. We want your doggies to be satiated and satisfied with their meals, so we add a couple ingredients that deliver big time when it comes to bold flavors. Check them all out on our website – we’ve made sure to include every single ingredient.

5. Vitamins & Minerals
Ready to talk supplements? Your doggie has already gotten all the macro-nutrients they need: Protein, Carbs, and Fats. Now, we need to make sure your doggie is also getting proper vitamins and nutrients to thrive. We worked with experts to create the perfect blend so that if your dog only eats YaDoggie – they’ll get everything they need. Things like calcium Iodate that protects and helps to build healthy bones and teeth as well as maintain a regular heartbeat and prevention of muscle cramping. Or Vitamin B12 supplement that helps to prevent anemia, and protects the nervous system. Take a look at our website for the complete list. And we know, some of these words are science-y and sound strange, we offer simple explanations so you know exactly what your doggie is getting.
